Intergenerational

Jim & Lana Trietsch and Qiang & Qi Xu  Our group is an intergenerational group that meets on the second Sunday of each month from 5-630 p.m. for a meal and prayer. We meet in a member’s home for 1.5 hours and kids are welcome!

Toni Smith-Smith, Julia and Don Elliot – Our group is an intergenerational group that meets every Sunday from 5:30 – 8:00 at a member’s home near the church building. We share a meal and chat about how the week is going.  Our group welcomes everyone but does not currently include small children.

Carolyn Dycus and Nell Simms – Our prayer group is for women seeking to visit and provide communion once a month to shut-ins who have likely drifted from Highland’s membership roles. Seeking those we’ve lost!

For Parents/Families

David and Cynthia Kneip – Our group is made up of four families, all in their late 30s to late 40s, with 12 kids ages 6-17. We meet every other Sunday for 1-2 hours, often outdoors in warmer weather and in homes in cooler weather, with a potluck supper every once in a while.

Mark Barneche – We meet weekly at Highland on Wednesdays at 7pm to discuss the Anxious Generation chapter by chapter. We aim to understand how technology is changing the nature of 21st-century childhood, how it impacts our calling as disciples of Jesus, and how to intentionally approach the role of technology in our lives and discipleship. The group may be especially relevant for parents of younger children below age 12, but all are welcome. Currently, the cohort is heavily represented by parents with children ages 3-9.

Sierra and Robert Lopez de Castilla – Every Friday night at 6, our group will meet at Highland for an hour to get to know new members, dive into Scripture, and follow a devotional plan. We are looking for a group size of about 15 that can include people of any age and life stage. Kids are welcome and the group will pitch in to hire a babysitter.

Postgrads

Robert Lopez de Castilla – A group of recent college graduates meets weekly on Sunday nights for one hour at Highland at 5 p.m. We discuss spiritual practices, the transition from undergraduate life to career or graduate school, and how God works in the changes we experience.
