Summer Meals 2024
July 26 - August 9
There are many children who rely on the Abilene ISD Free & Reduced Breakfast & Lunch program during the regular school year. While AISD continues their program into June and July, summertime is still often the hungriest time of year for many children. To support children without access to proper nutrition, when they’re not in school, Highland, the Abilene Hunger Coalition and other civic organizations continue to offer the FREE Summer Meals program after AISD closes their program at the end of July. And, it’s supporters and volunteers like you who make all of this possible. The Highland Cooking Team prepares approximately 300-500 meals for the 7 Highland-sponsored host sites. The Highland-sponsored sites include Freedom Fellowship, Grace Fellowship, WIC Office, Mockingbird Library, the Abilene Housing Authority, and two mobile sites, Mann Middle School and Ortiz Elementary.
