Help Serve Abilene
The Texas Mission of Mercy (TMOM) mission is “To restore dignity, “Healing through Love” by providing healthcare. Since 2007, TMOM has been providing health care in Texas. Annually, 10,000 patient visits have been provided at no cost and 33,362 pro-bono hours have been provided by volunteer doctors, nurses and volunteers like you and me within the last year.
Thus, WE NEED YOUR HELP! TMOM will be in Abilene (July 14 and 15, 2023) to offer free dental services to our community. Once again, Highland is partnering with the Abilene Big Country Hunger Coalition (ABCHC) to provide food service and feed 1000+ medical personnel, low-income patients, and volunteers. The entire event is dependent on the many, many volunteers who make this event a huge success.
NEEDS:
1. June 25, 27 and July 9: 16+ volunteers on each date to help prepare some tasty breakfast and lunch casseroles. These casseroles will be served during one of the dental clinic days. If you are a part of a small group, we encourage you to sign up and help us Restore Abilene.
2. Thursday, July 13: Your help is needed to transport food, kitchen equipment and help with the pre-setup in the Convention Center. We especially need volunteers with strength and stamina!
3. Friday, July 14 and Saturday, July 15: 60+ volunteers each day are needed to help set up and serve breakfast and lunch, organize several snack carts, offer a morning and afternoon snack to volunteers and patients, and finally aid with the clean-up during the all-day clinic.
Most of the volunteer times are setup in 2-hour increments, but we encourage you to stay as long as you can! Ages 8+ are welcome to volunteer but all children must be supervised by their parents.
